Card of the Week!
This week's card comes from Honor Appleton's 1924 book Me and My Pussies — a charming tale of a young girl and her beloved cats. Among her feline companions (Marmalade, Nurse, Fluffy, Cook) her favorite is a big black cat she names Tall Agrippa.
The scene shown here captures their reunion after Agrippa has gone missing:
"And then I knew. I opened my eyes and saw him — dear Tall Agrippa — who had come back to find me. And he wasn't dead. There he was, sitting on my chest, and looking so enormous. He told me all his adventures..."
Now a 100 year old book, Appleton's delicate watercolor illustrations are as enchanting as ever. It's no wonder this design, also featured on a journal, remains a favorite!
